I work in Kansas and my company suspended me last week with pay, but would not give me a reason for the suspension, only stating that they would contact me when and if I could come back to work. Is this right???
After doing some investigating I found that I had been suspended because I had used my employers name on a website that I have. I did not say anything negative about the company, just that I work there. There is nothing in the policy and procedure manual (which is a binding contract) that states an employee cannot do this or that an employee cannot have a personal website in general. Now they are trying to say that this is breaking professional and ethical code. Any thoughts on this?

Although the policy and procedures manual may not cover this type of act, I'm sure there are other written literature that cover code of ethics. Ask for it , im sure they have one.

It is not necessary for an employer to have a written policy prohibiting something in order to take disciplinary action. If an employer attempted to anticipate and include specifics of every possible form of misconduct, the employee handbook would be so voluminous it would have to be carted around in a wheelbarrow.
Since we know nothing about the type of website you were posting on and in what context you named your employer, it's impossible to have an opinion on whether your employer's concerns are valid.

The website was Myspace.com I had only listed my employers name under a section "your companies" thats it. I did not speak of them in any other way or anything else about my job.
The thing is, someone annonymously sent me a string of e-mails and replys to e-mails from the managment wing of my company. In this string of e-mails, they say that they risk firing me because every court has our handbook wich is a binding contract and in it it says nothing about using their name on a personal webpage. Also, the conduct policy states that employees are required to act ina professional manner that will merit trust and confidence of clients.... wny would having a myspace page act against that merrit? It is something I did on my personal time and has nothing to do with my work.
