Hi, I live in Missouri and my son has 3 children; one from a high school romance and 1 with his wife although the 2nd child was born after a divorce.
He has child support orders on the two oldest children and child support order pending on the 3rd. His support orders are for $400 a month. We live in a rural area and there are not many jobs available here. He moved to a larger town, rented an apartment and had a job making $9.00 an hour. He had no extra money. His child support is taken from his pay and he was current as a matter of fact he was re-imbursed for overpaying. His car's transmission went out. He didn't have the money to fix his car, he couldn't get a loan, he didn't clear enough money to repay the loan. He missed 3 days of work and was fired, once he was fired, he couldn't pay his child support and got behind on his rent, he was evicted. He was homeless. He is now far behind in his child support; they have taken his drivers license. He can't work, he has no transportation; no vehicle; no drivers license. He can't make enough money to pay $400.00 a month much less $600 which is what it will take for him to get caught up. Is there some way he can get help with this? He need his drivers license to work and he needs to work to pay. What can he do? He doesn't want to be a deadbeat dad.
