View Full Version : Question regarding layoffs in NC

I was informed on Friday that my company was laying off my position as well as my assistants position. We were employed by a Public Relations agency with only 4 account executives and one Assistant Account executive. SO as of noon yesterday, the company trimmed that to 3 account execs.

Early Saturday, two more account execs resigned. (They're married and the husband found a new job) That being said, I think our company needs two account execs. Being laid off, are they obligated to re-offer my job rather than hiring someone in at my position? Or can they simply bring in anyone else to do this job? Sorry this is somewhat long. Thanks in advance for any answers.

Unless you have a bona fide, enforceable contract that guarantees you rehire rights, they are under no legal obligation to offer you your jobs back before hiring someone else. It's their choice.
