Hello
I just recently informed my boss that I am pregnant. I work within a prison setting and have requested to be put into another job (i.e., mailroom) where there is no inmate contact. They do this whenever someone hurts there back shoulder or whatever. The bosses are not giving me an answer. any ideas what to do next. HELP ..... :p

Pregnancy doesn't entitle you to special treatment -- it entitles you to equal treatment. If you have presented medical documentation that you are temporarily disabled and are being denied, then it could be discriminatory. If you are asking without the appropriate medical documentation, then it might not be. Employers are not supposed to just assume that a pregnant woman can no longer do her job.

Also, your doctor would need to explain why you can not do the job that you regularly do, not just that it may be safer or preferable to be away from the inmates. Your employer may also choose to offer you a position elsewhere. Nothing entitles you to the position you prefer under PDA or even under other disability laws that don't apply here.
