I work and live in Oregon. Our employer has started having monthly lunches, during which there is usually a mandatory presentation. I have been told that while the presentation is mandatory, the lunch is not, and I need to mark off a half hour for lunch on my timecard (I am non-exempt). Usually, lunch is served, the presentation starts 15 minutes later, the presentation lasts for 20-25 minutes, and then the party breaks up 10-15 minutes after the presentation is finished. I don't always have work tasks that need to be performed, but it is usually "implied" that I help out. Am I getting a real lunch break?
