ok i'll try and make this short and sweet.

Female is someone I don't know, but is stalking me. I'm only being asked to sign papers, not to go to court anything. I recently found that the child has a different last name than either of us. Through a little research I believe the child was given her mother's last name. What I'm trying to learn is was this child legally adopted? or can you merely give your child your parent's current last name? (which was probably her MOTHER'S maiden name before POSSIBLY BECOMING DIVORCED). It almost seems to me like something fishy is being pulled to gain medical coverage etc.. but if this name change is difficult it could have been through adoption. Which waives all rights to child support? Anyone with any insight?

If you don't know the woman stalking you, how can you be considering signing anything, whether it is for child or a pet rock????

I do technically know who the person is.. but I don't known REALLY a whole lot about the person. Obviously I had some affiliation w/ the person.

That is besides the question though... Can your child something different than your own last name. Other than the father etc..?

The woman you've had an encounter with once, twice...however long has had a child for you and you're wondering if it's possible the last name doesn't have to be yours in order to receive support? Still you're writing in parables.

Here are a couple of questions you could answer for us since you're not telling us all.

Was paternity established?
Is there a court order out for support?

OK..look basically are you saying that this thing between you and this women (???) was just a sex thing b/c it sounds as if you don't know to much about her (???) but anyway since you and this women were not married then she is allowed to give the child any last name that she chooses... it doesn't have to be hers ..it can be her mothers maiden name (which is the grandmother) and since the grandmother is directly related to the child then so is the last name (get what I am saying). The last name can come from someone in mother's immediate family..for example her mother...

peace..much love...

ty. that answered my question. I wasn't sure if the child needs to be legally adopted or can come from anyone in the mother's family. Much thanks.

Ok since you want to be nasty about seeking help, why don't you consult with a lawyer all of these questions and see if the same questions are not asked Mr. Jerry Springer. :p

If your not on the birth certificate why is there concern with the last name? If she's a stalker why would you care? You are not legally obligated to this child until she files for child support in which case you can deny and have a paternity test done. If you are concerned with the last name, once all of this is established you may fight for the child to have your last name.

Consulting a lawyer would be best. Have you seen the child at all?

Much love.!
