information to other employees? I am having some major problems with my health and not even sure if they are from work or not. Today after almost everyone left work a supervisor, not even my supervisor, came up to me and said I spoke to ***** about your medical condition and it isn't from here and u r healthy as a horse! Well let me tell ya that just ticked me off to no end!! I am wondering what does this fall under and what can I do about it? Thanks in advance for any help or links.

Where did the supervisor get the information about your medical condition? It makes a BIG difference to the answer.

It was the owner of the company who told this person about my medical stuff. I haven't filed any workmans comp with them either. I am still working but going to the doctors to figure out what is wrong with me. They think it is carpel tunnel and I am pretty sure too but haven't told them that either. Thanks and sorry about the nonclarification on where the info came from.

Did you answer the question? Where did the company get the medical information from? You?

The supervisor got the medical information from the owner who only has gotten a light duty form from me. I haven't told them anything because at this point I don't know anything and am still seeing the doctor for tests.
Okay, we're going to have to pull teeth here. Where did the OWNER get the information?

ok please read I have said already there is no information per say other than I am on light duty and the owner does have that form. I haven't really said anything to anyone about my issues and I don't even know all what was said other than I have stated that there is no information other than the light duty form. I am guessing that the owner is guessing what is wrong with me and talking about me to other employee's but regardless she is discussing me with others. I have just found out now that I am on survalience camera at work and 2 other employees told me to watch myself and have been asked what they know about my medical issues. How I know about the camera is someone came up and told me about how I dropped a tray of parts and there was no one around when it happened and I said how did u know that and he said so and so has the camera on me now. ugh this place is so sucking right now. I don't even want to go back there tonight!
I have read every word you said. Specifically where the information comes from makes an ENORMOUS difference to what, if any, recourse you have. Are you saying that the owner obtained your medical information off the light duty form? And who submitted the form, if so?
Unless we know EXACTLY how your employer obtained this information, we cannot answer your question. It's as simple as that.
It is not illegal to discuss you with others. It is also not illegal to discuss what the owner guesses is wrong with you, with others.
The ONLY way you are going to have any legal recourse is if the information came from a source that is protected under the law. That is what we are TRYING to drag out of you.

Why don't we try this another way. Do you have health insurance where you work? Did you submit your medical bills to that insurance? Do you know if this insurance is self funded or if it is through a major carrier like United Health Care, Cigna or Blue Cross?
