Greetings from California

I am very concerned about our campany's owners feelings on making his company OSHA compliant. Ever since I went back to work for him in November 2005, I have been in a managerial position trying to explain to him about the need for proper, legally mandated training for all the employees and managers. I work for a small private ambulance company in San Diego, CA and the owner's response to my concerns was something to the affect, "as long as we don't make a large toxic spill or have an oxygen cascade system, OSHA is not a priority." He says that he is all for safety, but making me send the OSHA Compliance Guide and Training Manual back to the publisher with my own money, does not show too much concern.

I know personally from long time employment with another private ambulance company that we are supposed to have initial training in various subjects as workplace violence, bloodborne pathogens, back safety, etc. with yearly updates, but nothing is in place and when I bring it up, the conversation changes. Now because of my urgency and concern for this training, I am now being phased out of management.

What should I do?

Does California not have licensing requirements? I worked as a paramedic in Pennsylvania and the Department of Transportation made the rules, not EMS management.
