I am 17/f and like a guy that is in the high 20's. I want to date him. (including kissing) But worried about the laws that goes with it. I have graduated high school and in college now. But I don't think that matters. My mom and dad (they have shared rights) don't mind to much about what I do because they trust my judgement. I have tried to look up the rights in Ohio but there is not very much about it. I would like to know if I need to wait till I am 18 or not. If I do, then what age is the highest that I could "date" with no problems.

I would also like to know the gay rights in Ohio. I can't find anything about that either. Is it ok to be openly gay in Ohio? Can gay's foster or adopt a kid in Ohio? Thanks so much for your time and hope to hear from you soon.

A person under 18 (even one who is in college) is a minor. If Mom and Dad are okay with you dating an adult, then you can.

Can gay's foster or adopt a kid in Ohio?

Right now they can (although I don't know how often it actually happens) but there is currently a bill in the Ohio House--The Adoptive and Foster Children's Protection Act--which IF it passes will prohibit homosexuals and bisexuals from adopting/fostering a child. Naturally, there is much controversy over it.

i refuse to get into an immature battle with you..i simply said that the age of consent is 16...which it is!! and that when all this happened to me...--ALMOST 4 YRS AGO...thats what happened...they could NOT get the guy for anytime after i was 16...for anything!!!!!!!! thanks for your time~!!

As was stated, the age of consent is 16. That in no way means that the relationship is "safe" if the parents do not approve.

i dont think there is anything really that could be done. I was 15 sleeping with a 28yr old. my parents pressed charges on him for that...but couldnt get hom for anything for when i was 16....Granted its frowned upon in the public eye...Truthfully, i dont think its worth saying anything, she'll be 18 soon, and all its going to do is cause unwanted friction, between everybody.
