My 12 year old son's mom and I share joint custody. For the past few years he has wanted to live with me. He basically feels that his mom treats him unfairly and expresses unwarranted anger toward him regularly, and is very unhappy with their relationship as a result.

I thought that since he's at a maturity level where he expresses himself well and can communicate his feelings, circumstances and wishes, I'd look into whether or not a custody order change is possible/feasible at his age in California.

Does anyone know if this is possible?

love it hate it

most sons want to be with their dad when they get older. did you ask her first, if she is stressed she may agree for him to live with you. you have shared custody, shared custody is granted because the courts see that both parents should be involved in whats best for the child. if you are not on that level then apply for a modification for shared custody and your son to reside with you. the courts may hear his testimony which will help but it still comes down to whats best for the child.
