I should have listened to the warnings the fleeing employees gave me when I started. Anyways, I quit cuz I couldnt take the negatism & harassment anymore @a hancocks fabric store. It began when I needed emergency oral surgery on the required memorial day weekend. The manager said work was required that weekend and said I had to come to work after surgery. So I gave her the medical release, but still came to work (against the dentist orders) 24 hr later. From then to end, my hours were cut to barely 20/wk, she promoted an 18yr old to register(who began a wk after me & worked 35/wk), put the asst mgr in charge of training(?) me who criticized my work, outlined job steps before I could show her I could do the work, emphasized work over customer service, and belittled me for thinking or offering sewing advice in front of the customers. Some customers were telling they wouldnt put up with this. One last day, I was listening to a customer, flipped the bolt of material over to get the sku # and the manager runs to my table, rips the bolt from my hand, said "this is the third time I told you to cut against the fold." The last day, as I was bent my head back to check a sales sign (I was always reminded to check for the right price), the mgr rips the sales pad from my hand and writes in the sales price (that I was checking), and the person who was hired a month after me and works 10hr/wk was promoted to register. The asst mgr smirked the last hour of her shift at me and constantly reminded me to put the bolts of material away as she left for the day. The nite mgr who normally was chatty ignored me, so I took that as a sign to quit before they fired me. So I did. I doubt if I have any recourse. Hancock fabrics has no human resource or employee headquarters office to complain, too. Question: Wasnt this discrimination and harassment? How does one register a complain about a company with no complaint department?

Wasnt this discrimination and harassment? Not in any legal sense of those terms.

How does one register a complain about a company with no complaint department? You let your feet do the talking and walk out the door, which you already did.

You have described a lousy work environment but nothing illegal transpired. If store management wants to behave like jerks and bear the enormous cost of constant turnover, that is their perogative.
