i have been working in a resturant in connecticut for about a year now. this week after working 7 shifts as bartender/waitor, i had hit 40 hours. i only worked the shifts i was scheduled and didnt pick up any others. after working my shift on friday morning, my manager waited till after i had finished the first shift, and then told me an hour before my second shift was about to start that i wasnt able to work it because of my hours. he found coverage in another server. i told him that i wanted to work my shift, and he refused to let me. i know that all businesses must keep their own labor cost down, but this just seems unfair. i lost my best shift because of their error. can any body tell me if this is legal? i appreciate any help

The employer has no legal obligation to allow you to work overtime if he doesn't want you to, regardless of whose "error" it was.
