 I accepted a new job on Thursday and found out I am 3
months pg on Friday. how soon am I required to tell my
new employer? Do they have a right to fire me because
I am pg? I did not have insurance when I became pg,
does this count as a prexisting condition? If I am
making 42,000 a year at the new job, will I qualify
for state aid with the birthing costs or with day
care? The father is pushing be to have an abortion, I
really really do not want to, because it is a baby by this
age. The answers to these questions will help me
determine what I do. PLEASE HELP!

Whenever you feel comfortable doing so. The law does not dictate this.
Do they have a right to fire me because I am pg?
Absolutely not. They are forbidden by law from doing so.

No. Pregnancy can never be considered a pre-existing condition on employer-sponsored insurance.

That's one you'll have to ask the state. But I doubt it.

I am not in the legal field or anything but I thought that sometimes pregnancy can be considered pre-existing. A lot of medical plans do not cover pregnancy at all anyway. Definitely check it out.
As for how much you make... I doubt that you will qualify for state aid, you make well above the poverty level (unless you have 4 kids you didn't mention or something). BUT, a lot of states are more flexible on income guidlines for pregnancy, so DO NOT WAIT! Go apply! You never know.
Best of luck, and don't get pushed into an abortion if that isn't right for you. Things will work out in the end!

Chancemeeting, that may be true for individual plans. It is NOT true for employer sponsored plans.

Scroll down to the question on pre-existing conditions.

They do if they don't want to be hit by a lawsuit. Pregnancy is a protected condition under the law.
