the company i work for told me today that drs notes dont count towards waiving occurances. usually if you are absent/sick with consecutive days (ex-3) and you have a note, then that would only be one occurance. My newborn daughter was sick with a virus and i took her to the dr and they gave me a note. then after that i got sick with the same thing and had a note for me as well. they told me that her days with me being out would be 3 occurances instead of one, even though i had a note for all the 6 days. they said that it doesnt count for your children being sick. i have been here 6 months and dont apply for fmla, so i was wondering if there is a law that can stand for that. please someone help me out here. thanks

A doctor's note has no force in law. Unless FMLA is involved, and if you have only worked there six months FMLA is not involved, no law obligates your employer to excuse absences because you have a doctor's note; no law says you can't be given occurrances for a sick child, and no law obligates them to reduce your occurances because you have a doctor's note.

Nothing in your post suggests that your employer has violated any laws.
