i am pretty sure i am being black balled by my previous supervisor. i applied for a job, and they called me in for a meeting and they told me some things that my previous supervisor had told them which were not true. can i do anything about this? this is in charlotte nc.
That depends.
What did the supervisor say that was untrue?
(and more importantly)
WHY would your supervisor "blackball" you?

It sounds like you have a very stupid former employer. Even if you are fired for cause, most employers will say nothing.
When I was laid off from a job a few years ago, I had a company called referencecheck.com do a confidential check of my employment history. One of about 20 previous managers said something that was inaccurate and what I considered malicious. I sent a copy of the report to the CEO (large company) and to the their HR VP. The manager who made the comments had his contract cancelled (the equivalant of a termination). If your former supervisor said something that you feel is inaccurate, it behoves you to at least bring it to the attention of the CEO of the company.
That looks like a good link, semiba...
Thanks...I'm going to save it to refer to people.
