I recently quit my job after being verbally "thrashed" by a supervisor on a job site. Because we are required to go to job sites in groups in company vehicles, I called the manager and asked how he would like me to get back to the shop to punch out. I was told to wait there and I would be picked up and driven back. This occurred and when I arrived back I immediately punched out, this was at 11:48 am. The next day when I went to pick up my last check, I saw the supervisor I had had the dispute with manually "whited out" my time and changed it to 10:00 am. My employer claims that because I quit it is my loss that I had to wait on the job site to be returned. There were company vehicles on site that I could have driven back immediately but I was told to stay put. The employer now refuses to pay for the time I wasn't paid. In addition, the dispute occurred at 10:30 am and I have phone records to prove it. So even if they are legally within their rights to not pay me for the time I had to wait for transportation, don't they at least owe me from 10:00 am to 10:30 am, which was actual time worked? Didn't the supervisor who altered my time card commit fraud? This occurred in Arizona. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

The moral of the story is don't quit on the spot when you're out in the boonies and in need of company-provided transportation.

Anyway, chances are they do owe you for the time you were required to wait for transportation. You can contact your State's Deparatment of Labor and file a complaint for your unpaid wages.
