My pregnant daughter works for a national chain restaurant and she has been scheduled to work 10 hours straight through without a break (restaurnats never give breaks!) for 3 days in a row. She is actually losing weight due to this heavy work load. What can she do??? They fire you if you dare to complain that you need a break. Would a doctor's excuse work?
"If an employee is temporarily unable to perform her job due to pregnancy, the employer must treat her the same as any other temporarily disabled employee. For example, if the employer allows temporarily disabled employees to modify tasks, perform alternative assignments or take disability leave or leave without pay, the employer also must allow an employee who is temporarily disabled due to pregnancy to do the same."

But the reverse is also true. If they would NOT allow a break or a change in hours to a similarly situated employee who had a temporary condition that was not pregnancy, they do not have to allow such for pregnant workers.
The Pregnancy Discrimination Act says that you have to be treated exactly the same as if you were not pregnant. You can't be discriminated against, but you also don't get special privileges.
