I recently started working as a caregiver at a group home. I am paid an hourly wage to work 40 hours per week. As part of the job, I also have to spend at least one night at the home to care for the residents and have the option of being on-call any night. I get paid a flat fee for the one night that I am required to care for the residents and a smaller flat fee for the nights that I volunteer to be on-call. The on-call flat fee is minimum wage and the night I am required to be at work is at higher than minimum wage.
Since I already work a 40 hour work week, should this time I work at night be considered overtime or is the bonus pay alright?
