I work in the dental field in Michigan. My normal work week is 38 hours. One of my duties is computer repair. Recently after working an 8.5 hour day I spent an extra 6 hours repairing the computer system. The following day I worked my normal 8.5 hours plus an extra 2.5 hours. My boss has never paid overtime, nor do I get compensated for extra time. They may tack on an extra 1 -2 hours on my paycheck. But nothing more. Is there anything I can show him that says he has to pay his employees for all hours worked??? I'm syre he's breaking many labor laws but don'y know what to do.

Thanks
Sally

If you are a non-exempt employee, you have to be paid for every hour that you work and you have to be paid overtime for every hour over 40 in a week. Michigan does not require daily overtime; no state requires overtime for fewer hours than 40 in a week no matter what your regular schedule is.

If you are exempt, then it doesn't matter how many hours you work, more or less than 40, you are entitled to no more and no less than your regular salary.
