I have a friend who works for a large company and when she was on maternity leave she got 6 weeks paid leave from Short Term Disablity and the other 6 were unpaid.

How can I apply for Short Term Disablity in MA when on maternity leave? What sort of conditions does a company need in order for me to qualify for this?

Thanks in advance!

The state of MA does not mandate that an employer offer STD; nor is MA one of the very few states which provides a state plan.

An employer does not need to meet any conditions in order to offer STD benefits. Any employer may do so if they choose; no employer is required to do so.

Your employer will be able to tell you whether or not they offer an STD plan and if so, what the requirements are to apply.
