My wife was let go from her job with no notice or valid reason last week, and she is 7 months pregnant. She has been at this employer for less than a year. Would she be eligible to file for unemployment? It is unlikely she will be able to find employment before the baby is due. Fortunately she went through my employer for benefits, so that is not an issue. What are her legal options if any?

Thank you

She can file for unemployment; it will be up to the state whether she gets it or not.

Unless she has a valid reason to believe that she was let go BECAUSE she is pregnant, she has no legal options. You can be let go while you are pregnant, just not because you are pregnant.
