My fiance has just landed a new position at a care clinic and was notified that she will not receive her first pay check until her second pay period (one month). Now she understands that her first paycheck will not be in total but will be another month behind. This way the company can give you your final month pay AFTER you retire or quit. This does not sound right to me.
Another post stated that employers must pay (at least) monthly and not later than 10 days after the pay period. If so, she would be paid 30+ days after the pay period - and this situation would be illegal.
Any suggestions on how this should be handled? Keep in mind, she was just hired and does not want to make waves.
Thanks in advance for your reply.
Eric

Actually, here is the wage order itself.

My cheat book interprets this as 7 days following the end of the pay period, but that really isn't clear to me from the way the wage order is written. You may want to call and confirm.
