yes the father has just as much rights as you do. However if you feel that it is going to get nasty then I would get a jump start on custody and a child support order. I never thought my sons father would try to take custody of our son boy was I wrong and Iif I would have listened to my friends and sister I wouldn't have lost custody. I now pay over have of my pay check each month to my sons father with to me hardly any visitation. I do get him for the entire summer but to me that isn't enough. You need to contact an attorney about your situation if that isn't possible for you then at least try to get something in writing from your sons father stating when he can see him and how much support that he will pay don't forget to sign it by the both of you and have it noterize that way neither one of you could go back on it. Talk to your states Child Support enforcement agency about getting a support order arranged for you and they will help you in that area otherwise get that attorney and custody order put into place. GOOD LUCK

THe father has legal rights, but is he exercising any of them. IT does not sound good. For your sake, if the father is not in the picture, I suggest going to court and getting an adjudication that you have sole legal custody of the child and seeking establishment of a support order. Another option is to ask the father to terminate his parental rights to the child and forego seeking support and being the sole legal parent of the child. It soudns like you need to seek some help be it from a minister, friend and family, and attorney or local child support prosecutor to better understand your legal rights and what approach may be best in the longrun for you and your child.

I was told you could not do that unless you had someone to adopt the child? Is that possible in Missouri for her?
