Sorry if this has been covered before but I am new. I'm a salried, overtime exempt employee in West Virginia. Our company recently installed a time-clock for the salried employees which I understand is perfectly leagal. Now that they're keeping close tabs on us I wondered if, as a salried employee, I am required to work a certain amount of hours per week. They have told us we must work 40 so I'm wondering if I don't can I get fired? Thanks.

Either an exempt or a non-exempt employee can be required to work the number of hours the employer says. There is no legal minimum or maximum. Yes, you can be fired for not working the hours your employer says. Contrary to popular belief, exempt employees do not get to come and go as they please.
