The company I work for gets mystery shopped once a month. My manager went to her monthly meeting with all the District Managers, Regional Managers, etc. My manager informed everyone the following day that you are not to wear your jacket outside because if we get mystery shopped and the shopper can't see your vest, name tag and collard shirt the entire store will fail and everyone will be written up. Can they make a rule like this? Also, I got fired this morning because I refused to not wear a jacket. It's below freezing outside and there's 2 - 3 inches of snow on the ground. If we were just running the garbage out I can understand, but it wasn't, I was supposed to sweep the parking lot, wipe down the garbage cans and many other things. Since I refused, she said that I was fired and to just leave. Can they do this?
