I will try to make a long story short. While working for a school sysytem for 6 years,i developed back problems.I didnt know that the problems were work related until i was refered to a specialist. The next day i filed the paperwork for w/c claim.when the worker called me,i asked which doctor should i go see and she told me to continue to see the dr that i was refered to and that they would take care of it.they took care of it alright, one year later and im still waiting.they tried to say that i picked out a dr that would say what ever i wanted.the specialist is very highly reguarded and even sits on the states w/c board.sugery was required and i had to wait over a month to get it done, and i was in the most unbearable pain.anyway,w/c decided that they didnt like the drs opinion so 6 months after the surgery they start sending me to their drs who all of course disagree.so needless to say-here i sit.......... then to put the icing on the cake, five days before i was to be released back to work ,they(school system) sent me a letter saying that i had abandoned my job and that they were terminating me.The whole time,i was providing tem with drs notes and i was on medical leave at the time.if i had abandoned my job,why did they continue to pay my group insurance (for me and my family) for over 8 months? Is a person not protected by such foolishness when on medical leave?Anybody got an opinion?
