Last year (december) i (not seeing any other avenue) submitted my resignation "verbally". I told them I would submit something in writing (compliant w/ the University's regulations for good-standing termination) after holidays. Upon return...things looked better and I began to resonsider my resignation...and even considered and alternative that had been offered. Six days in to the New year I was given a letter that stated that my resignation had been accepted but that they did not have to accept anything beyond two weeks notice (I gave 2.5 months - verbally) and that upon completetion of me training other staff to take over my duties and closing out things I was already working on that my last date would be 6 weeks earlier than the date I offered. So now I am terminated from my position...did I still "resign" even though I never submitted anything in writing, not even in an email and since they moved my last date up by six weeks. Can I still file for unemployment? I would greatly appreciate any insight. I am still new to Georgia (2 years) and I am not familiar with their labor laws! PLEASE HELP
