I have searched your posts and have been unable to find the answer to this seemingly simple question.

Is there a legal description for Full time vs. Part time? Specifically, our company's policy states that part-time is working less than 30 hours. Full-time employees are required to work 30+ hours.

Is there a specific number as specified by law or is this a company decision...i.e. could we say 39 hours is part-time?

Thanks! :D

In all 50 states, this is a company decision. The law does not dictate what is part time and what is full time. Most employers use 40 hours per week as the benchmark just because that is when the law requires them to start paying overtime, but you could as easily use 20 hours or 60 hours and it would be legal.
