I am currently employed in montana. I was hired in May as an "Internship" type of position. I have been working 40hrs/week since then. I have opted to extend my employement until this coming August. I recently asked to put on the company health insurance policy and was denied. Their reason being I am a "temporary employee" and therefor do not qualify. My question is this: can they offer benefits to one full time employee and not another based on the length of employment? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am 22 years old and have clue about these laws YET. Any help with the specific law/ruling would be appreciated also. Thanks in advance.

Many, many insurance policies do not cover temporary employees. If their plan does not, since you qualify as a temporary employee it doesn't matter how many hours you work, they do not have to offer you the insurance.
