I am assuming that paternity has been established and there is a court order in place for visitation.

You do need dads approval for this. You have to notify the court and your ex of your intentions. You have to petition the court for permission. You will have to show why moving this child away from bio dad is in the best interest of the child, not a very easy thing to do.

If you are granted permission, expect to have to cover the cost of transportation for dad to visit with his child at least partially if not all.

I have a question too I live with my mother in texas and my dad lives in tennessee i have a little sister who is 12 but different dads anyways, i am 16 years old 17 in march and i will be graduating in may. My mother just told me that she wants to move after i graduate due to family issues beyond belief, I am a good student i get A's I am on the national honor society and graduating a year early but she recently told me i would go to college in san antonio at the University of the incarnate word and no where else i planned on utsa now she makes it sound like i have to go with them where ever they move but i dont want to, can she make me because i am only 17, and if so can i chose which parent has custody over me because i know my dad would let me make the decision on where i want to attend college even though we are not that close??? and can i live in an apartment even if my mom says a dorm??

Momof2boys, in my decree it states that I can move at anytime without regard to geographic location. Does your paperwork not state something having to do with relocating?
