I have a question about mileage reimbursment. I am from ND and work as an apt. maintenance person and i'm wondering what, if any, laws exist for mileage reimbursment. I have to fight with my employer every month for reimbursment for use of my own vehicle. I know the IRS sets a rate but is that mandatory, or just suggested compensation? Is there anything I can do if my employer refuses compensation?

There is no legal requirement for an employer to reimburse you for business-related expenses in your state. That is completely up to the employer. The IRS standard rate only comes into play if you are reimbursed at a higher rate than the standard; then any excess becomes taxable wages.
