I'm a small business owner and my question is can my sister do volunteer work at my store? She works 40 hours a week.

1. Do I have to pay taxes, worker's Comp and other things on her?
2. Is it legal?

If you are a for-profit business, she cannot legally volunteer. She can only work for you if she is an employee, which means yes, you must pay unemployment, workers comp, and at least minimum wage.
