For years our employer has somewhat randomly provided t-shirts with the organization’s logo to the staff. Most of the staff has chosen to wear the shirts while working, but it wasn't a requirement. Now the organization is providing three t-shirts annually to all regular staff members and is requiring their use. The staff may purchase more t-shirts at cost. They say they will replace the shirts if damaged on the job, but they will not pay for cleaning. A dress code is not covered in the current contract. Can they suddenly require the use of the shirts or do they have to bargain?
