Hi

I am a dad a stepfather and also a grandfather.

I have 2 teenagers that live in Florida and i was reading the post below and wondering if the age of emancipation does stay in the original state of the divorce order.

My child support order is still handled by my state and the state I am in does not make you pay for college for your kids.

I paid for my own college and I guess after being stuck paying alimony for over 7 years I do not feel an inclination to offer any support after my kids graduate high scool. My ex lied and cheated to continue recieving the alimony while she lived with another man and work a job making 5 times what the courts calculated her share of support on. See in my state you can not recalculate support until the divorce is final and it was kept in a court room for over 7 years. (i am hoping she saved some of this money because there wont be another penny forthcoming after the kids graduate highschool.)

I had 2 other kids that are still very young and i guess i resent that paying alimony for 7 years made our lives so very hard because she was unhappy that i moved on. visitation denials began the day after my daughter was born and she made sure i did not see my kids for 4 years.

I get to see my kids now but only after thousands and thousands of dollars for attorneys and court costs.

Why do the courts make it so difficult for men to get to see our kids? and easy for our ex wives to walk away and move our kids to another state.

i look forward to emancipation and the day i don't have to pay another dime to my ex wife. I have had expenses for the past 11 years that the courts dont even consider. transporting kids 1000 miles when she would finally let us see them.

Oh well enough of a rant I am just hoping that the emancipation stays in my state the original state of the divorce because i will not pay another penny after high school.

Did you or your wife move? My child support case is handled in the state where dad lives. I think most cases are handled this way as it makes it more probable that the ncp will show up for court. If it isnt handled in your state you may want to consider petitioning the courts to have that changed.

thank you for your response

she went on a vacation in the summer of 95 an told me that she just needed some time to think things over. her mom had died 2 years before and we had not been getting along not to mention she had other interests or shall we say prospects for my replacement from the get go.

I very foolishly allowed her to go stay with her friend i visited the kids 3 times during that 6 month period for a total of 8 weeks.

then when her 6 months were up for my Christmas present i was served with a no contact order from FL. She filed bogus charges and said i threatened her.

I was truely hoping that things would work out and i would have my family back.

Well she took my kids away and then spent the next 10 years trying to sabotage my relationship with my new wife and step children.

support order is in PA custody is in Florida.

Well, she knew what she was doing. She waited six months so that you would not be able to contest the move. Also, you stated that you have been flipping the transportation cost? Why? Do you have an attorney? Since mom created the distance she should be responsible for some if not all of these transportation costs. Was that mentioned in court? They can either order her to actually by the airline ticket, or whatever, or they can deduct the cost of traveling expenses off of your child support amount. You say she is making 5x's the amount the court imputed on her, have you filed to have this modified?
