This is regarding a Criminal Case. I'm trying to find out if I have the right to request a copy of the hand written police report (not the typed report done by the typist) or since it involves a criminal case does the request have to go through the District Attorney? I read the Government Code 6250 and I think I understand it to say: I do have the right, but each law enforcement agency has the right to make there own proceedure. So they can tell me I have to go through the District Attoney.

Procedure will vary from agency to agency, so no one can really answer that on here as there are multiple law enforcement agencies in CA.
