 :( I have been on this job since in Tennesee since 2001.Very rarely called in,highly thought of by the residents and their famlies.I am employed at a assitant living home.I am the only black lady that is a care taker.I am next to the highest in senority. But when the issue of raises come up i am at the bottom. This year i finally had christmas off to be with my son and my family. The week before christmas, they had put me down to work without asking me and i stood my ground and told them no that i wasn't gonna work.
So the day before i was off for Christmas she made sure that she had the scedule fixed out and up and she had dropped my hours down to 32hrs for the whole 2 week pay period.I was very upset because i already have a bankruptcy and insurance coming out of my check and with those hours that is all. I will not have nothing left out of my check. She suggested that i drop the insurance and just ask around for more hours, maybe i can get some.I even have senority over her too.
everything that use to be normally for 1st shift to do has been put off for 2nd shift do.After 8pm its only 1 care taker there to attend to 30 residents. She gave most of my to a girl that came in off of the street and said she needed 40hrs a week/80hrs every 2 weeks. So my superviser gave her the hours knowing i had just asked for more hours a couple weeks ago.I can't sleep good at night because i don't know how i am gonna make it off of 32 hours per paid period.when i do sleep i have nightmares. She has me so mad at i just sit and cry and want to ram her head through the wall.Whats funny is the residents has more respect for me than they do her.they are always saying 2nd shift don't do nothing but when i get to work all they are doing is sitting around in the office laughing and talking or outside smoking.A few weeks ago the first girl said she didn't have time to finish up the dinning room and could me and the other girl finish it up.as soon as we said yes she took off outside where the first shift click was sitting and smoking and laughing. any advice on this issue, should i stand my ground????
