I work at home for a hospital in WA state. I am paid an hourly wage and also have a quota I must meet each pay period. I use equipment provided by my employer. I have several questions:

1. Should I be paid for travel time to and from the office for meetings, evaluations, etc., since it is not part of my regular day?

2. Our quotas are based on number of hours worked (minus sick/vacation time). If their equipment fails and I cannot work but stay on the clock, should my hours be adjusted so this "nonproductive time" does not count against my quota? (example, I am supposed to type 1200 lines per day based on an 8-hour day - or 150 lines per hour. If my computer fails for an hour and I am not paid for downtime which does not count against my quota, I now have to type 1200 in the 7 hours I am able to work - or 171 lines per hour). When the system fails, we are told to "keep checking back...it should be up in 15 minutes, half hour, etc." so we stay "on the clock" but are supposed to make up the lines we were unable to type during this downtime.

3. My employer has scheduled appointments for service personnel/tech support people to come to my house during my "off hours" to take care of business, thus requiring me to stay at home to wait instead of being able to use my off time to do my personal activities. Is this legal? Should I be paid for this time without it affecting my quota?
