If the position of Tax Clerk is vacated and them a couple of weeks down the road I find out that it has been reposted and it was a way for them to get me out of the postion...do I have any recourse?

Honestly, I really don't think that this has anything to do with you personally. Most government services jobs must be publically posted as a matter of law. In other words, the government is perfectly within their right to temp out to whatever agency they choose; however, most of the time it is not their choice as to whether or not to review other applications for permanenet positions. This is regulated by law.

I will also add that even in the absence of a law regarding job posting, unless you have a valid reason to believe that they wanted you out of the job because of your race, religion, national origin etc., it is not illegal.
