my daughter and her mother live 2 hours away and I dont see her very much. 2 weeks ago I got a phone call saying that she needs to leave there because her boyfriend is abusive and is cheating on her so I went and moved her and her son and our daughter to my house until she could find a place of her own. My ex was also abusive at times and takes high blood pressure meds and depression meds. We enrolled our daughter in school and she is doing great. My ex decided to go back to where she was living but she left our daughter here with me until vacation so she can make the transition back during the break. I must have some sort of case hear for her being very unstable and for abusive behaviors, I cant see taking my daughter out of school again just so she can go back to that same situation. Is there a way to keep her with me legally until I can get my ex into a court room or will they make her go back with her mother?????

If you have proof of ex's problems, you can file a petition for custody change, and ask for temporary custody until the full hearing. Custody issues are usually dealt with best by having an attorney. You need to at least consult with one ASAP. Good luck.
