Have a family member that has been working in a convenience store for about 6 months. Her money in the register has always came out correct but in the past few weeks she has been short money. The range of the shortages have been from 6.00 to 45.00 over the past few weeks. Does the owner have the right to make the employee pay back the money shortage?
I was advised that there have been other employees that have also been using the register during her shift.

Unfortunately, Georgia wage payment laws are very weak and there is no law prohibiting such deductions from pay in Georgia (or in Federal law), although there are in many states.
