I was forced to quit my job about 3 months ago. In the process of doing my job my immidiate supervisor decided that since what I was doing was gonna reflect negatively upon him, he would remove me from my current position and place me in another so as to avoid further problems that would effect him. When I took this to the main boss, the direct supervisor threatened me physically. The main boss did not acknoowledge what he (my direct supervisor) had said and instructed this supervisor to leave the office. I then placed all of my company belongings on his desk and quit.

I did not file for unemployment because I quit and was thinking I was not eligible. However, after speaking to a friend, I am told I actually may be eligible since I quit in a Hostile work enviroment.

Can anyone advise me on this?

What you describe does not meet the legal definition of a hostile work environment. In order to claim an HWE, the employee has to have been subjected to either sexual harassment or illegal discrimination under Title VII. It has nothing to do with the atmosphere you work under.

The likelihood is that you were correct and would not have qualified. However, it would have done no harm to have applied anyway, just on the off chance that the adjudicator was having a really good day.
