My husband works for a carryout/delivery pizza place and up until now it has been part of a corporate chain. At the first of the year, the location he works at is going to be a franchised location. He has been with the corporate store for over 2 years, and has approx. 35 hours of vacation time. When the restaurant changes from corporate to franchise, are they obligated to compensate him moniterily or by letting him take the vacation? When they announced the buyout, he had to fill out another information sheet, and w-4, like he was a new hire, so we weren't sure what our rights were in this situation.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Anitra

SC law does not obligate an employer to pay out or carry over vacation pay.

I'm not saying they won't (or that they will) because I don't know what their plans are. All I am saying is that they are not required to compensate him for unused vacation under the law of your state.
