I have a very serious labor complaint and do not know where to turn to. I was working at a gas station running a deli. I had to go pick my duaghter up from Bellview Fl which is 2 hours from wherew I work my boss and manager knew I was having car trouble, when I got to Bellview it was 11pm at night ,when I called to confirm I would not be able to open the deli at 5 am in the morning because my relatives did not want me taking a chance on the back roads that late at night with the truck running bad, I was told point blank by my manager " if I did not have my ****ing *** into work in the morning don't bother ****ing coming in" end quote. Well after a long verbal discussion with my boss who proceeded to yell at me for not showing up and telling me that I would be on a trial basis because they hired someone else which turned out to be a lie, I went to work on thursday 6/30/05 and did my usual morning chore right down to filling the hotdog machine,my break is from 9am to 11am because it is a very slow time meanwhile all the food on the rotater was sold by cashier, when I walked into work both my manager and boss started cussing me out with the f word teling me I did not do my duties that morning yet it is on video tape that I did I was so sick of geting told the **** word I told them that was it and walked out. I am a single parent and gave thenm forms to apply for medicaid and foodstamps for my daughter 3 weeks ago and to this day I still have not recieved my papers after repeatedly asking them for them. Also the open sign for the deli slid down between the cooler and wall and the open sign broke now he is telling me he is going to sue me for it even though it was an accident and happened 3 months ago. Also my doctor has prescribedan anti depressent for me and my boss says thatt is the reason I broke the sign because of my medicine which I do not take till I go to bed so 10 hours later there are no side effectts as a matter of fact there are no side effects from this medicine except lack of appite. I really could use some advice because he treats all women like this in the 4 months I have worked there I have seen 7 women get fired because they are not up to his standards

Your boss is a jerk but he hasn't violated any laws. Using nasty or unpleasant language isn't against the law nor is threatening to fire you if you didn't show up to work. Your car problems are not your employer's problem.

I wouldn't worry about the boss suing you for the broken sign. That's obviously an empty threat. He's just a hot-head who doesn't censor anything that comes out of his mouth, which is unfortunate.

The only thing you can do here is to just put this unpleasant experience behind you and look for a new job.
