Hi there. I am not sure whom I can direct this to or call so I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I was fired from my job last Friday from circumstances I agree with. I have no problems with my firing, however I was in Ohio (my family resides there, I live and work in PA) when this happened. I asked my boss " When can I pickup my check". He claimed I had no check at my employers, the corporate office kept it??? Today, I spoke with a supervisor he also said Corporate still had my check. Now, my payday was THURSDAY I got fired the following day. Why do I not have a check? Now is this legal, I was fired, all I want is my paycheck which I worked for and I want to be rid of the company I worked for. Please someone direct me if I am wrong and being impatient or if I can infact contact someone. I am so grateful for your time.

You are entitled to the check for the previous pay period at it's regular time. You do not have to be paid your final check until the regularly scheduled pay day for the pay period in which your last day worked occurred.

Why are they holding it?

I have no idea. I called off improperly, I am ok with being fired, like I stated. I would however, like my paycheck. I would like to talk with someone asap, because I have first hand witnessed this company withhold a check from an employee for weeks. I have no clue why their doing this. I didn't fight my firing, not filing for unemployment. I just want to pay my rent.

Please now, this is going too far. I just got a voicemail stating I will not receive my check without a letter of resignation. I got fired? I am very unsure how to handle this, and I am in Ohio. What can I do?

They legally cannot hold you wages past the regularly scheduled pay day for the pay period, resignation letter or not. You can file a claim with the PA Dept. of Labor for unpaid wages if the required pay date has past. The fact that you are not in the state any longer is irrelevant.
