What are the dating laws in California? I'm asking because I'm 19 and my girlfriend's 16. Is what I'm doing legal? My mom told me that it is, but a couple of my college classmates told me that it isn't? Who's telling the truth here? I hope it's my mom.

I meant alone. I would never sleep with a minor. BTW, my girlfriend has dumped me since I started this thread. So this should now be a non-issue. I now know that dating a minor is not legally wrong, but some people may consider it morally wrong. Just to be safe, I will try to find a girlfriend who is at least 18. I'm sorry I was vague.

Its ok to be with a minor as long as your not doing no sexual stuff with her which your situtation sounds kind of exciting but watch out u could get in trouble with a minor

The age of sexual consent in CA is 18. Both of these relationships are illegal.

Generally, California is very strict on minors compared to other states. It has some of the most restrictive laws regarding minors (under the age of 18).
