I have been employed for 2 1/2 yrs. I was doing my job and there were no complaints. One girl went on maternity leave and another was hired to take her place. Since then I have been brought in the office for not doing my job, for having an attitude, etc. I tried to keep the office running like it was before the pregnant girl went on leave. The office manager came out in the front office and was changing everything around - what we filed where, how long we kept records, etc - so when I tried to do my job - I really didn't know what or where to put things. To make it a shorter story, I was called in the office for so many petty things. I was told that I all of a sudden was not capable of answering the phone properly - I wasn't using the full company name when I answered (which was a lie) and then I wasn't permitted to do any scheduling because there was one day that I didn't put in half the appointments (which I can also prove is a lie). My days were cut from four to three. Last week I was told by the owner of the company - not the office manager - that I was on probation. I would be working 2 days a week with a $2.00 cut in pay for two weeks. I will be retrained in every aspect of the office and after 30 days I will be reevaluated as to whether I can do the job or not. In the 2 1/2 years, I have been there, I have watched alot of employees come and go. When the owner and office manager get tired of them, they fabricate things about them and make it miserable at work and they all just walk out. So, he pays no unemployment and he gets what he wants. I am stubborn enough to fight this. I have been humiliated, embarassed and he has made my self-esteem the lowest it has ever been. There is one girl in the office who understands and is upset about all that they are doing to me. The rest of them are telling lies about me and saying that I am doing things just so they fire me. I was told my the Office manager that they weren't going to fire me and I told them that I wasn't going to quit. That has made them real mad. My question is this - Are they allowed to cut my pay for this reason and is there a way I could fight this. The owner is a evil man (I am finding out) He is a smart man - who is very used to getting his own way. Please let me know what rights I have. Thanks
