I am looking for information on live in caretaker laws. The position is a 24 hour live in position, wages are 790.00 plus room and board. There are no set days off, so the manager gives them as she sees fit. I want to know if there are some laws out there that pertain to this type of job. It is salaried, so I understand that the minimum wage laws do not work here, however, there must be some laws somewhere that protect the live in worker, so they can get at least a day off per week. Or is cheap salaried slavery allowed? Is there anyone out here that has now or in the past worked this type of job, and if so, how much did you earn, and what was your schedule like.
The particular manager that I am referring to, is the type that believes for 790.00 and room/board is a fair price for 24 hour 7 day per week slavery.

Slaves did not have the option of quitting. You do.

I find your comparison highly offensive.

Ditto to everything cbg said.

If you don't like the terms and conditons of your job, find another one.
