Over the holiday my friend's shop will be closed for two weeks. His employer is telling him he will only be paying for one week of vacation. Is it legal to 1) force a person to take their vacation at a specific time that they did not choose and 2) not pay him for the second week in a sense depriving him from working and not offering any compensation or allowing him to recieve vacation pay.

I don't know if I explain the situation clearly.

Appreciate any help. Thanks.

Is the employee exempt or nonexempt (hourly)? Makes a difference.
