I am single mom in NY State. I responded to a posting of two jobs for a local library, filled out an application and took an online questionairre, paid the county $20.00 to do this in August.
I heard that for the position that was "available" a woman has appeared out of no where, assumed a part time position but is doing the work associated with the job description I applied for. What really irks me is several things.
a) there was no posting for a "part time" position
b) this woman has no B.A., although that was specifically the minimum requirement for the job, however, she will graduate in December.
c) the testing score list for this job takes up to six months to compile, according to Personnel. Meanwhile, this woman has been hired through the backdoor, and those of us who legitimately have experience and education will be out the opportunity, as well as our money and time.
I am resentful that I have paid to take a test that I did not have a real opportunity to be hired for.
The director of this library has hired her own husband and daughter into positions at the library, and apparently people appear out of nowhere to assume jobs, which she gets around by renaming the jobs.
This is happening all over the county, people are paying good money in faith to take tests, thinking that they have an opportunity to get jobs that are really taken already.
I want my money back and I want some kind of justice, where can I go to pursue this??? Any input would be appreciated.
