Hello,

I am a legal assistant in San Francisco. I am paid hourly and my regular work week is 40 hours M-F. I was asked to work on Saturday outside of the city for about 2 hours. My co-worker is driving me there. The travel time is about 1 hour and I do not have to work during the commute. It usually takes 30 min to get to work during my regular work days. Since IWC Wage Order 4 says: " Any alternative workweek agreement adopted pursuant to this section shall provide for not less than four (4) hours of work in any shift." Should I be paid overtime for a minimun of 4 hours even though I only worked 2 hours? Should I be paid for travel time?

Thanks.

You are not required to be paid travel time since this requirement generally applies only for overnight travel.

And the "reporting time pay" only applies when you are scheduled for your regular full day of work and are sent home early due to specific circumstances. Since this is a scheduled day off for you, and you are only scheduled to work 2 hours, that is all the employer is required to pay you for.
